I’m grateful to that little girl.

Thanks, Hector.

I think I told you how difficult my family was over our wedding. I pretty much lost them completely in the 6 years since we got engaged. Made worse by their move across the country.

Jim was one of the few people to step in an fill the void they left during that rejection.

This past year, my brother had a daughter. The first child in the whole family. They’ve taken it as an opportunity to reach back out to me and Kev.

They send us updates about Imogene every week.
They’ve started taking a sincere interest in our lives and actually ask questions about our days.

It’s been so healing and good. I am so grateful to that little girl.

I’ve been struggling this week, because his funeral is this weekend, on the same day as her first birthday party.

Both events are tied up in the really painful process of our marriage — Jim being there for the hard part, Imogene being the redemption of it all.
