It will be constantly relived until it is understood and accepted.
In essence, the end of one’s time in Eden is concurrently the beginning of their time in the Wilderness, and As human history has shown time and again, the wilderness will only stay that way for so long while man is present. The human need for order will cause us to reorganize the world into a way that makes sense and most easily allows us to navigate our path forward.
The trauma of expulsion from paradise / civil society / home will be constantly relived until it is understood and accepted. It’s only then a person is able to develop the ability to prevent this expulsion from happening ever again.
But that trauma must be faced directly — remembered enough so that life can be restructured in a way that it will be continuously forgotten going forward.

my one day drawing maps that don’t have any walls or borders
After a rough year of unstable employment and personal tumult, I’ve suddenly had a lot of amazing and great things happen all at once!
I just started a new job as a Disaster Cartographer at FEMA, and my first day of class for my master’s program at University of Maryland College Park in GIS and Map Design is coming up.
Come on out for a happy hour at the Drafting Table on 14th St — the most apt bar I could think of. I’d love for y’all to join me in one last hurrah before things start getting busy 🙂
Bring anyone you’d like. The more, the merrier!
I’m looking to celebrate a hopeful future and my one day drawing maps that don’t have any walls or borders — and that’s something I can’t do alone!
[Faraway friends were moreso invited as thanks for helping me get here ♥]

I’m swimming.
Sorry I missed ya last night! My phone was on silent —
Thanks, Mel 🤗It’s been a chaotic start the simultaneous new cartography job at FEMA and my first week at College Park, but things have been going really well. I finally feel like I’m swimming as opposed to treading water while staying in place.
Enjoy the first couple weeks of marriage (and especially the honeymoon!!!), and I can’t wait to meet Melissa von Heijne for the first time ❤️
